    On Oct. 2nd, the delegation from The University of Akron came to visit Sias. The delegation includes President, Dr. luis Proenza; Chair of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Phillip Kaufmann; Provost, Dr. Beth Stroble; Vice President, Ms. Holly Harris-Bane and Director of the Office of International Programs, Dr. David Ayers.

    Akron is one of the top 200 universities in America, located in Akron, Ohio, their trip to Sias connects Sias to be a prestigious American university.

In the meeting with Shawn, they agreed that each year Sias and Akron will exchange students and faculty, conduct joint research projects and culture programs, host visiting delegations and offer intership opportunities. The Director of the Office of International Programs, Dr. David Ayers said that before they came, they were not sure whether they were making the right choice to come here. Without hearing of Sias before, they doubted whether Sias was a qualified school to build a relationship with. But he was convinced otherwise after their first day at Sias. They were shocked by the outstanding students,professional faculty, and the beautiful campus. They said it was their best trip to China, they were so glad that they decided to come.

    Before they left, they hoped they would return to Sias soon, and they were so thankful for the hospitality from Sias.

On July 24, 2008, the University Enrollment Management Panel of Education Ministry made up by Yong Ceng, the director of Developing and Planning Department of Education Ministry and Fu Fangzheng, the director of Private Eudcation Department of Education Ministry arrived at Sias to supervise its enrollment work. Mr. Shawn Chen, President Li Haijun, Vice-President Wu Tiejun and Zhang Xinmin waited at the Sias easten gate to welcome the panel.
The Vice-President Zhang Xinmin gave a detailed introduction of the enrollment work at Sias. Mr. Shawn Chen introduced the basic tenets, philosophies and plans for the future at Sias. Then he led the panel to visit the campus and Research Institute for Applied Cognitive Science. The panel recognized the beautiful Sias campus, the advanced philosophies and developed institute. They were quite satisfied with the enrollment work at Sias.

        The acting president of Adamson University, in the Philippines, Dr. Ragos and three other delegation members arrived at Sias on July 23, 2008 for their two-day exchange and visit. On the morning of July 23, the Adamson Delegation had a campus tour accompanied by some of the ICED staff and complimented the beautiful Sias campus and the outstanding facilities. Mr. Shawn Chen had a meeting with the delegation members and set a banquet to welcome friends from afar.

        On the morning of July 24, President Li Haijun had a meeting with Dr. Ragos and other delegation members for the cooperation between Sias and Adamson. The two parties signed an agreement for both academic and international students exchange.

         On July 16, 2008, Sias International University received its plaque and certificate for “the Most Competitive Foreign-Investment University in China” from a Chinese news evaluation center in Beijing.
        This survey came from an investigation called “the Second Chinese Most Competitive Brand Enterprises”, which covered the whole country and was held by the Chinese news evaluation center. It began in November, 2007 and polls were published continuously in some famous newspapers, magazines and websites in China such as http://210.51.12.36:8001/, www.365china.org.cn/ and www.w12365.org.cn. This survey has lasted for 5 months and obtained more than 700 thousand results from over 30 provinces or municipilities by the methods of newspaper, Internet, telephone and text messages.
        After the strict and fair public appraisal, finally Sias International University was entitled “the Most Competitive Foreign-Investment University in China”, which is a great recognization to the Sias staff. They will be making greater efforts for this brand and offering better service to its students and the society.

        The 15th Henan University Games of “Huaguang” sports activities ended in Anyang Institute of Technology on July 13, 2008. This year, Sias International University took part in the games ranking in Group A, Group C and Group E and gained 5 golden medals, 7 silver medals and 11 copper medals, ranking top in the medal list. Additionally, Wu Tiejun from Sias International University was entitled the “Excellent Team Leader” for his outstanding job.
        During the period of the games, Sias athletes practiced the Olympic spirit of “Faster, Higher and Stronger” and strictly followed the game rules. Group A athletes gained 2 silver medals and 1 copper medal. Although it was the first time for Group C to take part in the games as a team, they strived hard and finally achieved 9th ranking in this group. In the Group E games, Sias top athletes tried their best and finally gained 5 golden medals, 5 silver medals and 10 copper medals, ranking 2nd in this group. This year Group E broke the Sias’ record for total medals, among which 6 athletes reached the first national athlete level. Besides, Sias gained the prize for the greatest school spirit while participating in the games.
        After the games, the coaches and the athletes expressed that they will still be doing hard work and trying to do a better job next time.

May 31th.the press conference about donating a “Hope” primary school for the disaster area which was did all together by our school and Fort Hays State University, kansas -the friendly province of Henan, was successfully held in the press conference hall of Henan Newspaper Group. On the conference, Shawn Chen, the promoter, gave some details about Sias and FHSU donating a “Hope” primary school in An Xian,Si Chuan province to the leaders and reporters who were present the press.He promised that Sias would consider the “Hope” primary school as her responsibility and obligation.As long as Sias exsits for one day,she will do her best to help the primary school,give the kids the best study environment and let them study and grow up happily.

After Shawn’s proposition，all the staffs responded warmly and supported actively.They used different ways to come to help.At 2:10pm on June 11th, the grand”SIAS-FHSU”donation was ceremoniously held in the Opera House of Sias University.It was presided by Zhang Haitao, secretary of general party branch of Sias University.Dr.Shawn Chen,Prisdent Li Haijun,Vice-prisdent Wu Tiejun,Vice-prisdent Xiao Yunlong,Vice-prisdent Zhang Xinmin,Vice-prisdent Guo Tianbang,Vice-prisdent Qi Chaoren ,some other leaders of Sias,some merchants of European Street ,some responsible members of enterprises related to Sias and all the staffs of Sias took part in the activity.

The promoter Shawn Chen gave a mobilizable speech.He firstly announced the news about our school donating a “Hope” primary school that Foreign Liaison Committee connected with Education and Physical Bureau of An Xian.So far, Education and Physical Bureau of An Xian provided two school names that need to be builded:Sang Zao Gao Feng primary school and Xiu Shui Jin Shang primary school.It will not be choosed until our school send a investment group on June 25th and discuss with the EPB of An Xian.He called on all the staffs to develop the example and leading action as college teachers to join in the activity of building a “Hope” primary school and do their best to build the “SIAS-FHSU” primary school.After watching the short video about relief that was provided by News Center and the singing-dancing Indebted Heart that wasprovided by Student Affairs Department.The atmosphere was quite warm,many people were shocked to tears by the tragic scene of the disaster area.Everyone walked to the donation box to express their love.Many of them expressed to join in the volunteer team to go to the front line to built the school.They wanted to do some help to the disaster area by their own action. As counted, 399,377yuan was donated on that day.The donation will set a special account and all the money will be used to build “SIAS-FHSU” primary school.

      May 31th,the press conference about donating a “Hope” primary school for the disaster area which was did all together by our school and Fort Hays State University, kansas -the friendly province of Henan, was successfully held in the press conference hall of Henan Newspaper Group.Mr. Shawn Chen-Chairman of the board of Sias International University and also the promoter of this activity, Mr. Robert lykins-Chairman of Kansas High Education Board of Regent, Mr.Edward Hammond-Prisdent of FHSU,Mr. Wang Xiao-Foreign Liaison Committee and Mr.He Chuanjun-Vice Prisdent of Henan Red Cross attended the conference and give some news about donating “SIAS-FHSU” primary school to the medias who were present this press.This press was presided by Zhang Jie,director of News Center of University Office,Sias International University.

        On the conference,Shawn Chen, the promoter,gave a speech first.He announced some details about Sias and FHSU donating a “Hope” primary school to Si Chuan disaster area to the leaders and reporters who were present the press.He promised that Sias would consider the “Hope” primary school as her responsibility and obligation.As long as Sias exsits for one day,she will do her best to help the primary school.The first batch of money which is used to build the school will be at least 400,000 yuan and also he will invite foreign architect as the consultant,use their advanced quakeproof building skills to build a beautiful and safty campus for the kids so that they can study and grow up well.Mr Robert Lykins and Edward Hammond gave their speechs later,they expressed their lamentation to the people from disaster area and said they would do their best to build this primary school.

        The atmosphere in the press was quite warm.Reporters questioned and stated their opinions eagerly and enthusiastically.They asked Mr. Chen and the guests some questions about building the primary school and also expressed their affirmation about our school and FHSU helping the disaster area with the reconstruction.

——SIAS 2008 commencement ceremoniously celebrated        SIAS hold a fancy commencement to celebrate the accomplishment of the senior students in the stadium at 6 p.m on May 31th,2008, the ceremony was presided by Li Haijun, prisdent of Sias University; Professor Zheng Lingyu, vice-president of Zhengzhou University; Dr. Edward Hammond, president of Fort Hays State University; Dr. Jeanette Cunningham, president of Northeast Oklahoma State University ; Shawn Chen ,chairman of the board of Sias University; vice-prissdents: Wu Tiejun, Xiao Yunlong, Zhang Xinmin, Guo Tianbang, Qi Chaoren; some chief leaders; thundreds of parents,some faculties and all the graduates presented  the ceremony. They witnessed the sublimity and excited moment all together.       On the ceremony, Dr. Shawn Chen firstly introduced the distinguished guests to the audience and gave an opening speech. On behalf of the faculties Shawn Chen gave the graduates his best wishes and wished them a good prospect. He said that the new life was at hands, all of you should keep on studying, develop your skills, serve the society , pay close attention to the development of Sias.,try to find the ways to success ,never give your failure any excuse,work hard and create your successful life by yourselves.       Zheng Lingyu, vice-president of Zhengzhou University; Dr. Edward Hammond, president of Fort Hays State University;Dr. Jeanette Cunningham,president of Northeast Oklahoma State University and Yang Bo ,all faculty debuty gave their speechs in turn and congratulated to the graduates. They hoped them will have a great occupation and try to achieve new goals, and wished Sias a great future.       The graduates debuty Sun Guangqian gave a speech at last. On behalf of all the graduates he gave a sincere thanks to Sias University and promised that he would not fail the expectation of Sias. Futhermore, he will requite Sias with the best achievement to display the reputation of Sias.       The commencement started after the speech, Guo Tianbang, Zheng Xinming, Qi Chaoren, Xiao Yunlong, Wu Tiejun ,Dr. Shawn Chen, Dr. Edward Hammond,Dr. Jeanette Cunningham and some other leaders of our school took part in the ceremony and awarded the graduates.       Dr. Edward Hammond declared the Kansas degree students were graduated. Dr. Edward Hammond awarded the Kansas diploma with Shawn Chen and Jeanette Cunningham.       Zheng Lingyu announced the senior students were graduated.All the students stood up and cheered with each other.       The commencement successfully ended in the beautiful song which was  performed by the Opera Department students to our school and the boundless floweriness fireworks.  

May 19th, 7:00 AM, after the morning flag raising ceremony, the Sias University Flag Guard lowered the flag to half-mast.

May 8th — American Columbia International University board member Dr. George Murray and Exchange Student Office representative Kelly Grecian visited Sias. President Li met Dr. Murray in the admin building’s seventh floor meeting room. Both parties agreed to cooperate in organizing study, exchanging teachers, exchanging students, and other projects.
