        小时候我生活在美国洛杉矶，八岁的时候返回香港与我父母一起生活。回到香港之初，我在当地的学校上学，后来转学到加拿大国际学校。我本科毕业于香港中文大学心理学专业，大学期间曾到加拿大安大略省金斯顿市交流学习一年。毕业后我在香港大学教育学院做了一年助理研究员，随后在美国一所大学驻德分校里攻读了教育学硕士学位。跨文化教育背景赋予了我更为广阔的视角，让我体验到了不同的教育理念和教学方法。我坚信好的教育是塑造青年人品格的至关重要的因素。我们常常能听到人们回顾往昔，曾经的某位老师如何启发了他，引导他成长为现在的模样、选择现在所选择的道路。教育如医院——它也在拯救生命，它能打破贫困的轮回和糟糕的家庭模式。一所拥有优秀教师的好学校能将下一代人抚育成为社会的栋梁，使他们成长为具有创新意识、思维敏捷、正直不阿的人。教育是我的职业，而致力于发展优质教育则是我贡献社会的一种途径。

    I grew up in L.A., USA and moved back to Hong Kong with my family when I was 8. In Hong Kong I attended local schools at first, but graduated from the Canadian International School. I received my Bachelor in Social Science (Psychology) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong but also did a year of exchange in Kingston Ontario, Canada. I was a research assistant in the School of Education in Hong Kong University for a year and received my Masters in Education degree from an American University, though I studied on their international campus in Germany! These different cross-cultural education experiences have given me a broad perspective different education philosophies and pedagogy. I believe good education is a significant shaping factor in a young person’s life. How often do you hear people sharing about a teacher that has inspired them and contributed to who they are today and the path they have chosen to take? Education is like a hospital ---it can save lives; it can break poverty cycles and destructive family patterns. A good school with good teachers will raise up the next generation to be pillars in society; people with creative ideas, smart minds and integrity in their choices. Teaching is a vocation and bringing about quality education my way of contributing to society.

        这就是为什么我如此珍惜担任教学督导专家职位的原因。学校的这支督导专家队伍是由具有丰富教学经验的一线教师组成的，他们对教学问题有切身的体会，同时掌握着第一手的有关教学政策变化的信息。这支队伍就像是智囊团，能够为学校改进和实施教学监督政策提供不同的见解、视角和问题解决办法。这个平台也给我提供了机会，使我能从一个中西融合教育者的角度分享我的意见和想法。我很珍惜这个机会，能和西亚斯的管理者们分享我从西方教育体系中的所学以及我和外教工作过程中的所感。在这里我更深入地了解了学校教学政策背后的原则和哲学，它有助于我更好地成为架构外教和中方员工的桥梁，有助于我向外教同事们解释学校教学政策背后的含义，也有助于我从不同文化观念角度和我的中方同事交流想法，互换建议。我们将携手共进，共同把学校变成更加美好的地方。

   This is why I highly value serving on the Supervision Office Expert panel. The panel, chaired by Teacher Wei, consists of well-seasoned teachers who are also in the front line, experiencing teaching issues and education policy changes first hand. It is a helpful sound board and think tank, providing different voices, perspectives, and solutions as policies get reviewed and implemented. The board has given me a chance to share my ideas and thoughts from the standpoint of an east-meets-west educator.  I cherish this opportunity to share with SIAS administrators’ things I have learned through studying under a western education system and working with the foreign teachers. It has been very insightful to gain a greater understanding of the principles and philosophy behind school policies and become a bridge between the foreign and Chinese faculty; explaining the education principles behind policies to my foreign teacher colleagues as well as exchanging ideas and suggestion due to different cultural values and management philosophy with my Chinese colleagues. Together, we can make the school a wonderful place!
