——通过自我调节学习提升成人语言学习者的读写能力


 

2025214日至16日,第21届柬埔寨TESOLTeaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)会议在金边举行。作为郑州西亚斯学院堪萨斯国际学院美方合作大学富特海斯州立大学(Fort Hays State University)的派遣英语教师,Adrienne Lee Seo有幸受邀参加了此次会议,并发表了题为《通过自我调节学习发展成人语言学习者的读写能力》的演讲。她的演讲不仅展示了自我调节学习(Self-Regulated Learning, SRL)在语言学习中的重要性,还为与会者提供了如何将这一框架应用于实际教学的实用建议。


 From February 14 to 16, 2025, Adrienne Lee Seo, an English instructor from Fort Hays State University (FHSU) and a faculty member at Kansas International School, Sias University in Henan, China, attended the 21st Annual Cambodia TESOL Conference in Phnom Penh. She presented on "Developing Language Learners' Literacies through Self-Regulated Learning (SRL)," highlighting the importance of SRL in language education and offering practical teaching strategies.

自我调节学习(SRL)框架的核心

自我调节学习是一个整合了学习和动机过程的综合框架,最早由Zimmerman2000年提出。它通过组织并引导学习者的思想、情感和行为,帮助他们实现其学习目标。Adrienne老师在演讲中详细解释了SRL的结构,并强调了其在成人语言学习者中的重要性。她指出,SRL不仅能够增强学习意识和自主性,还能通过反思和调整学习策略,显著提高语言学习的效果。

The Core of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL)

Adrienne emphasized that SRL enhances self-awareness, autonomy, and language learning outcomes through reflection and strategy adjustment. Her research used English graphic novels to explore adult learners' experiences with English literacy and multi-modal literacy. She argued that graphic novels, combining text and visuals, help learners better understand complex narratives and symbolism, especially beneficial for those with limited English proficiency.

Both approaches emphasize learner autonomy, enabling students to select, manage, and reflect on their reading materials, thereby improving language and literacy skills.

For example, in writing, learners can plan, draft, revise, and reflect on their work. In public speaking, they can record and evaluate their performances against goals, making adjustments for improvement.

Adrienne's presentation provided valuable insights into SRL's potential in adult language learning. Through real-world examples and research, she demonstrated how SRL, combined with multi-modal materials like graphic novels and extensive reading, can enhance literacy and language skills. Her work offers practical guidance for educators, contributing to more effective and engaging language learning experiences.
